In order for you to register with the agency you must pass
a criminal records check, have a valid first aid certificate,
at least 2 references from previous employers as well as
a recognised qualification in childcare (for example the
level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education or a NVQ Level
3 in Early Years Care and Education).
Nannies who do not have a qualification, must have a minimum
of 2 years experience in childcare. Please note that even
though there are no legal requirements for nannies to have
any training or qualifications, caring for children is a
skilled and demanding job, appropriate qualifications provide
you with the skills and confidence to do the job effectively
and professionally.
We will also need to see some form of identification such
as a passport or a photo-driving licence.
Your primary duties are directly related to the children.
This involves taking care of the children’s day-to-day needs
in the children’s own home. The exact duties will depend on
the ages and individual needs of the children, as well as
the specific requirements of the family. Both the family and
yourself should be clear about the precise duties expected.
These duties should be formalized in a written contract.
As a nanny, you will be also responsible for identifying
and meeting the child’s social, intellectual and emotional
needs.
As a live-in nanny, your responsibilities and qualifications
would be the same as a daily nanny.
